Scripture Union Daily Guide 15 November 2024 – MESSAGE

This vision of the ram and the goat came in the third year of king Belshazzar of Babylon. It should be noted that in this prophecy, Daniel saw himself in Susa which was to be the future capital of the Persian empire. The ram was given enormous powers and was on rampage; no one could resist it, nor be rescued from its power. Suddenly, the goat appeared, overturned, and crushed the ram and its horns.

It dominated everyone but its horn was eventually broken off. One kingdom will rise and fall after the other, but the kingdom of our Lord Jesus abides forever. We again see a little horn from the goat, which grew up exceedingly great, causing great havoc and setting itself up as the prince. It removed the regular sacrifice and overturned the place of the sanctuary and banished the truth. This little horn appears different from that in Daniel 7.

Many Bible scholars identify this little horn with Antiochus Epiphanes who reigned about 175 B.C. and fulfilled this prophecy. However, their common trait is their hatred for God’s people. See Matthew 24:15, 2 Thessalonians 2:4. We note that there is a determined time and a divine sentence for restoration of worship and the reign of God’s people.

PRAYER OF SALVATION

Accept God’s free gift of Salvation Do you want to have a personal relationship with God? We invite you to accept His free gift of salvation through His Son Jesus Christ.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
You can pray the following prayer right now to ask God to come into your heart so that you can receive the miracle of new birth:
‘Almighty God, I come to you today. I confess that I am a sinner, and I cannot save myself. I believe that Jesus Christ came to this world, he died on the cross for my sins, and rose again triumphant on the third day. Right now I repent of my sins, and ask Jesus Christ to come into my life to be my Lord and personal Saviour. I believe according to your Word that I am now saved. Thank you Jesus for saving me from my sins. In Jesus Name, amen.’
If you have prayed the prayer above – congratulations! There is much rejoicing in heaven!
